Banks
Since its inception, our client base has included a significant number of credit institutions, including banks, now defunct savings banks, and credit unions, which have been joined by a growing number of partners in the insurance sector and investment services companies.
The scope of services provided to financial institutions is as broad and complex as their own activity, and although it originally focused on the more purely macroeconomic and financial areas, which were the initial focus of Afi's activity, over the years it has expanded into areas of strategy, financial modeling, risk and capital management and control, planning, management control and profitability measurement, the implementation of prudential regulation, sustainability, digital transformation, and/or corporate transactions.
It is worth noting that our knowledge of the banking business and our close relations with the financial sector paved the way for the role played by Afi in a good number of the mergers arising in the wake of the restructuring of the financial system, particularly the saving bank and credit cooperative segments, in the wake of the financial crisis of 2007/2008. That experience is also valued by investors analysing opportunities in the Spanish financial sector; we collaborate with those investors helping them with their company/portfolio modeling, analysis and valuation work.
Our know-how and experience in the Spanish financial sector and our work as analysts, advisors and consultants in their intense restructuring effort ever since Afi was created has also allowed us develop a broad suite of professional services for international financial institutions (World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Bank of Africa, etc.), which welcome our ability to leverage that experience in other markets. Likewise, in recent years we have worked on significant projects with public and private financial institutions in Algeria, Morocco, Mexico and Portugal.
