Esteban Sánchez Pajares

Managing Partner

PhD in Business Economics and Master’s in Financial Markets, both from Madrid’s Autónoma University (UAM). A member of the Madrid School of Economics and the Spanish Accounting and Business Administration Association, he boasts almost 30 years’ experience in bank management.

A partner at Analistas Financieros Internacionales since 2002 and a member of its Executive Committee, he currently heads up the Financial Services area. At Afi, his work has focused on the provision of strategic, risk, commercial and IT consultancy services in the banking sector and, more recently, on the digital transformation affecting this sector. He also played an active role in the restructuring of the Spanish bank sector in the wake of the recent crisis. Moreover, Esteban has extensive experience outside of Spain, having worked with private companies as well as IFIs (the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank).

Before joining Afi, he worked in Barclays’ planning department for seven years and in Arthur Andersen (now Deloitte) for three years, in the bank consultancy and auditing division.

He is a member of the Board of Afi Escuela de Finanzas Aplicadas and of its Academic Committee and he is the joint director of the Masters in Finance and several executive programmes in the bank management arena.

He complements his professional and teaching activities with research papers, books and press collaborations, all of which with a focus on banking and financial topics.
