Afi has developed the 'II Barometer on climate and prospects for Spanish investment in Italy', in collaboration with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce of Spain in Italy. This report analyzes the evolution, impact and prospects of investments by Spanish companies in the transalpine country. Italy is consolidating itself as a strategic destination for Spanish investment, with solid investment stock growth, employment generation and good prospects for the coming years. Companies value digitalization, quality of life and sustainability positively, although they point out challenges such as fiscal pressure or relations with the public administration.

- Italy has become a strategic destination. 95% of Spanish companies consider Italy to be key to their international strategy.
- Investment stock growth. At the end of 2023, it reached 16,906 million euros, with a strong presence in telecommunications, finance and insurance.
- Lazio and Lombardy remain priority regions when it comes to investing.
- 59% see collaborations with Italian companies as a way to expand to third markets.
- The energy and paper industry sectors are leading recent investment flows.
Investments have generated a positive labor impact, creating more than 77,000 direct and indirect jobs. For this reason, Italy remains a safe and strategic bet for Spanish companies seeking to grow, innovate and consolidate their presence in Europe.
